Rebuilding Together, the nation’s largest volunteer home rehabilitation organization, has awarded its Golden Hammer to a group of dedicated Lyondell volunteers for the group’s work to rehabilitate a home.
Last fall marked the fifth year that the group of more than 200 Lyondell employees in Texas worked two consecutive Saturdays alongside their families and friends to rebuild several homes in the Houston and Beaumont communities. The focus of the Rebuilding Together organization is to repair and rehabilitate houses of elderly and disabled low-income homeowners.
Rebuilding Together sends inspectors to each home following the completion of a renovation project to verify that all the work has been completed. Although difficult, Rebuilding Together chooses the 10 best projects out of several hundred and awards those teams the Golden Hammer award. The Lyondell weekend warrior team from Channelview has earned the award this year for their 2006 project in the Highlands area, located on the east side of Houston.
