Global Care Day is a company initiative challenging employees at each of Lyondell's worldwide locations to simultaneously participate in community service above and beyond our ongoing community involvement activities. Participants include employees, family members and contractors.
Of this year’s projects, 24 targeted environmental enhancement, three were related to education and 23 focused on community sustainability. Activities ranged from landscaping and habitat development to carpentry and maintenance at children’s or seniors centers to painting and cleaning at schools.
"Our objective is simple: to make a difference in the communities where we operate. We want to make each community a little better because we were there. Equally important, our employees and their families will have a better understanding of their community as a result of this involvement. In the same manner, we hope that our communities get to know our people a little better through these interactions."
Global Care Day is a wonderful opportunity for our employees to become personally and directly involved in our communities," said Morris Gelb, Lyondell’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer and Global Care Day executive sponsor.
