Community Involvement
Corpus Christi Complex>

We recognize that being a socially responsible member of the community requires maintaining an open door for dialogue and actively working to support community needs.

Community Dialogue. Plant management meets with community and industry groups to share plant information and discuss community expectations and concerns as part of a Community Advisory Panel (CAP). Plant management also participates in leadership roles within the Port Industries of Corpus Christi (PICC).

Community Involvement. The company is actively involved in local community organizations such as Corpus Christi Literacy Council, Robstown Area Development Commission, Boys and Girls Club, Coastal Bend Bays Foundation, Adopt-a-Highway, United Way, American Diabetes Association, March of Dimes, and the school districts of Robstown, Tuloso-Midway, and Calallen.

Volunteerism. Employees are encouraged to contribute their time and resources to key community organizations and schools. They are scout leaders, coaches, mentors, board members on school boards and other key community and civic organizations.

Education. Plant volunteers conduct hands-on science activities in classrooms, sparking student interest in science through Lyondell’s Explore and Experiment program. Explore and Experiment, created by Lyondell and educators, is a useful resource for teachers. It includes lesson plans and activities for Kindergarten -12th grade, while meeting Texas TEKS and TAKS requirements.

Lyondell provides six Excellence in Math and Science college scholarships to graduating seniors at Robstown, Calallen, and Tuloso-Midway.

Lyondell’s Global Care Day. In 2006, employees and their families volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club in Robstown, Texas. Volunteers helped beautify the club, and upgrade sports equipment.
