Lyondell’s Channelview Complex has four primary community alert systems to alert residents and businesses to an event at the facility.
The Community Awareness Emergency Response (CAER) Line has been developed by the East Harris County Manufacturers Association to provide emergency information about industrial incidents, as well as general information about flaring, noise, unusual odors and emergency response drills. The 24-hour hotline telephone number is 281-476-2237.
- First Call is an automated telephone system that calls area residents within a two mile radius of the facility with a recorded message about a plant event.
- Community sirens are located in nearby communities as a first alert mechanism for our closest neighbors.
- 1640 AM radio station provides listeners within one mile of the Lyondell’s Channelview facility updated information on plant activities. During normal operations, the radio station broadcasts the national and local weather reports.
