To us, being a good neighbor means enhancing the communities where we operate by listening to our neighbors, responding to their concerns and striving to maintain open lines of communication. Each month, plant leaders meet with the Community Advisory Panel to Lyondell and Equistar (CAPLE) to discuss plant operations and citizen concerns.
Similarly, our employees are good neighbors who contribute countless hours to nonprofit organizations each year; serving on boards, acting as tutors and rolling up their sleeves to take part in community service activities. Organizations we support include Channelview ISD, Sheldon ISD, Galena Park ISD, Crosby ISD, Goose Creek CISD, Wendel D. Ley YMCA, North Channel Assistance Ministries, North Channel Coalition and Betty’s Haven, North Channel Area Chamber of Commerce and United Way.
In addition to our ongoing community involvement activities, Lyondell’s Global Care Day challenges employees at each of our worldwide locations to simultaneously participate in community service. Recently, our employee volunteers spent the day working at the new Harvey Brown Primary School, where they constructed a butterfly garden, built and installed playground equipment and planted trees and flowers.
We are honored to be your neighbor. We will continue to do our part to enhance the quality of life and vitality of the North Channel community.
