Volunteerism. Employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and talents to key community organizations. They can be found as scout leaders, coaches, volunteer emergency medical technicians and fire fighters.
Global Care Day. On Saturday, May 5, 2006, more than sixty Lyondell employee volunteers, family members and retirees spent the day at Willistown Township's Okehocking Preserve as part of Lyondell’s 7th Annual Global Care Day. Partnering with Township employees and volunteers from the CRC Watershed Association, the Lyondell volunteers removed invasive plants, planted native trees and installed wire cages to protect existing trees and shrubs. Owned by Williamstown Township, the Preserve is open to the public and is a valuable resource to the community.
Watershed Conservation. The site is a sponsor for the Chester-Ridley-Crum Watershed Association’s annual Creek Week Clean-up activities.
Philanthropy. Employees open their hearts and wallets to charitable causes in the community. Employee, retiree and company pledges to the latest United Way campaign totaled nearly $90,000.
United Way Day of Caring. As part of the United Way Day of Caring activities in September, 2006, employee volunteers from the site spent a day working at the PathWaysPA center for Families in Media, Pa. Tasks performed by the volunteers included cleaning, painting hallways and hanging flowers.
