Education. The site supports science education by organizing activities with local students. This includes monthly visits of different schools to the Education Information Center where the petrochemical industry has games and computer programs available to the students. We also organize tours of our plant.
Community Dialogue. The plant managment meets regularly with advisory panels of residents from Hook of Holland and Westvoome to discuss the concerns and expectations of the local community. in addition, members of the advisory panels from the surrounding townships are regularly invited to discuss the performance of the plant in the areas of health, safety and environment.
Volunteerism. Our employees are encouraged to be active as volunteers in social organizations.
Global Care Day. The employees of Lyondell contribute to the community. Many of them participate year after year in the company's Global Care Day, during which, in their own free time, employee volunteers renovate community, youth and senior citizens facilities. In addition, volunteers collect second-hand clothing, shoes and toys for needy children in Rotterdam.
