Education. The site supports science education by organizing activities with local students. This includes monthly visits of different schools to the Education Information Center where the petrochemical industry has games and computer programs available to the students. We also organize tours of our plant.
Community Dialogue. The plant management meets regularly with an advisory panel of residents from Rozenburg to discuss the concerns and expectations of the local community. In addition, officials and members of the advisory panel from surrounding townships are regularly invited to discuss the performance of the plant in the areas of health, safety and environment.
Community Involvement. Through its contributions, the company supports educational and sports activities for children, as well as social projects in the nearby communities of Rozenburg and Westvoorne. The Earthwatch Educator Fellowship program has been running for more than 10 years and gives teachers the opportunity to participate in scientific research on projects around the globe and to share this experience with students and community members.
Volunteerism. The employees of Lyondell contribute to the community. Many employees participate year after year in the company's Global Care Day, during which, in their own free time, employee volunteers renovate community, youth and senior citizens facilities. In addition volunteers collect second-hand clothing, shoes and toys for needy children in Rotterdam.
Philanthropy. Company donations to local charities support educational and environmental projects as well as actions benefiting the disadvantaged. Lyondell's Matching Gift Program enhances employees’ individual donations to charities.
