High VI or VHVI Base Oils (H-H)
A unique hydrocracking-hydrotreating technology two-stage process for creating excellent high viscosity index and/or VHVI lube oils from feedstocks previously considered unsatisfactory for production such as HGO, VGO, DAO, Slack Wax, etc. The process becomes more economical compared to solvent extraction as the quantity of low VI constituents in the feedstock increases. In the first stage, the reactions are saturation of polynuclear aromatics, ring opening/saturation, and isomerization of normal paraffins. Significant reduction of sulfur and nitrogen occurs along with the selective hydrocracking, saturation, and isomerization reactions providing the bulk of the viscosity index improvement. In the second stage, a hydrotreating catalyst is used to improve thermal and oxidative stability and color of the lube oils.
Wax Isomerization and Catalytic Dewaxing (ISOM-CDW)
A Process achieves wax isomerization as well as shape selective cracking of long normal paraffins into branched chain paraffins to produce HVI & VHVI base oils by an improved series of specialty catalysts (adding noble metals to the Zeolite catalyst structure to create a bi-functional catalyst). Our wax isomerization-catalytic dewaxing processes operate at lower pressure and yields more higher value by-products such as light diesel oils rather than fuel gas than our competitors.
White Oils (Duotreat)
A direct two-stage or single stage hydrogenation approach to the production of food-grade and super technical grade white oils. This environmentally superior process treats oil with hydrogen to convert multi-ring aromatics at high reactor temperatures and pressure to eliminate all traces of carcinogenic compounds (PNA) and produce odorless, tasteless, and colorless white mineral oils. One of the key factors of our outstanding performance and catalyst cycle lengths is our ability to effectively remove the sulfur compounds that had deposited on the active metal sites via an insitu H2 rejuvenation procedure. When compared to the conventional acid treating process, Duotreat offers advantages of improved quality, higher yields, and lower operating costs by eliminating costly and environmentally unattractive acid handling and sludge disposal problems.
Highly Refined Oils (HydrotreatPlus)
High-pressure single-stage catalytic hydrogenation process for making high quality superior lube oils. Typical feedstocks to the HydrotreatPlus unit are raw lube distillates, dewaxed lube distillates; solvent treated lubes distillates, and solvents.
Wax Hydrotreating (Wax H-T)
A process for finishing deoiled crystalline and microcrystalline waxes to the highest food-grade wax quality on color improvement, odor reduction, and aromatic ring saturation. All reactions take place without hardness degradation, oil content increase, or yield loss. For many wax feeds, the finished wax products will meet all FDA requirements for food grade quality. The process has the advantages over normal acid treatment with Clay finishing of substantially lower operating costs and considerable operating flexibility for processing a wide range of waxes.
Lubes Hydrofinishing
An intermediate pressure mild hydrogen treatment for the manufacture of excellent finished lube base stocks. Normal feedstocks are solvent extracted, dewaxed lube fractions, ranging from neutral distillates to bright stocks. Product color, color stability, and additive susceptibility properties are improved by hydrofinishing.
