Ethylene oxide is utilized in surfactants, industrial cleaners, cosmetics, emulsifiers, paint, heat transfer fluids and glycols for polyester fibers and film, PET resin and antifreeze.
Properties
EO is a colorless gas at room temperature and a liquid at 12°C; it is soluble in organic solvents and miscible in water. EO is a chemically reactive material and is used in the manufacture of ethylene glycols, ethanolamines, glycol ethers, surface-active agents and polyether polyols.
