For Filled/Reinforced PP

Filled and reinforced polypropylene markets are experiencing excellent growth. The low-cost and improved performance of these polypropylene systems are displacing more expensive engineering polymers such as polyamide, ABS, polycarbonate and others. Major market segments for filled/reinforced polypropylene include automotive, appliances and consumer products.

Integrate coupling agents enhance the physical and thermal properties of polypropylene by providing chemical bonding of the filler to the polymer matrix. Integrate is used with fillers such as fiberglass, CaCO3, mica, Mg(OH)2, aluminum hydrate, and wood flour. Available in pellet form, the unique properties of Integrate polypropylene coupling agents provide improved integration of fillers and reinforcements into polypropylene.

Typical formulations for glass reinforced polypropylene systems are approximately 30-40 percent fiberglass, 60-70 percent polypropylene and 2 percent Integrate chemical coupling agent.

Types of reinforcements and fillers in polypropylene that utilize Integrate coupling agents include:

  • Fiberglass
    • Chopped Strand (short)
    • GMT (Glass Mat Reinforced Thermoplastics)
    • LFT (Long Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics)
      • D-LFT – “D” Direct Long Fiber
      • G-LFT – “G” Granular (pellet) long fiber
    • CFT (Continuous Fiber Reinforced Thermoplastics)
  • Minerals and Other fillers/reinforcements
    • CaCO3, mica, talc, Mg(OH)2, aluminum hydrate
  • Wire coated products
  • Comingled fibers

Equistar's Integrate coupling agents contribute considerable improvements in polypropylene composites and alloys including:

  • Novel and patented technology provides superior performance
  • Outstanding performance and processability including improved strength, stiffness, impact, HDT and dimensional stability
  • Broadest range of melt flow rates (as low as 8 MFR)
  • High maleic anhydride contents
  • Excellent dispersion in PP-reinforcement compounds
