Plexar® 2000 Series HDPE Tie-Resins
HDPE-based Plexar tie-layer resins are commonly used in flexible packaging applications where moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR) is a concern, such as dry goods. HDPE tie-resins are also used in blow molded bottles for barrier applications like liquid food products and in barrier containers for snack food (flavor retention). Plexar HDPE-based tie-layers adhere well to a variety of substrates and offer excellent stiffness, processability, toughness and thermal stability.
Film-grade Plexar HDPE resins are used in low MVTR applications in combination with barrier resins and provide superior adhesion performance. Plexar HDPE-based tie-layer products for film offer distinct advantages based on advanced catalyst technology and superior grafting technology. These resins provide low contribution to taste and odor, low MVTR contribution and low gel performance.
Highly modified HDPE-based Plexar resins also are used in metal bonding applications and provide superior adhesion to many metal substrates.
Blow molding HDPE Plexar grades are also based on advanced catalyst technology and utilize unique grafting capability, which provides distinct advantages including:
- Low catalyst residuals and extremely low volatiles content for improved performance
- Low contribution to organoleptics effects (no contribution to taste and odor)
- Good processability and melt strength along with outstanding stiffness and stress crack resistance
- Superior performance when used in a recycle layer (heat resistance, low black specs) with outstanding thermal stability and low gel performance
- Contribution to top-load strength
- Higher density, while providing excellent adhesion
