As of January 11, 2008, Houston Refining ceased production of orthoxylene and paraxylene. Technical information including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) will be available online until December 31, 2008.
Paraxylene is an aromatic chemical. It is used as a plasticizer, chemical intermediate and polyester intermediate.
Benefits and Applications
Paraxylene is used for polyester fibers for clothing and fabrics, PET soft drink bottles and films for audio and video tapes.
