As of January 11, 2008, Houston Refining ceased production of orthoxylene and paraxylene. Technical information including Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) will be available online until December 31, 2008.
Orthoxylene is an aromatic chemical. It is used as a plasticizer, chemical intermediate and polyester intermediate.
Benefits and Applications
Applications for orthoxylene include usage in rainwear, shower curtains, toys and auto upholstery. It is also used as a chemical intermediate in paints and fiberglass.
