Cycling team raises $125,000 for MS research

Approximately 400,000 Americans are living with multiple sclerosis, and the National MS Society estimates that multiple sclerosis affects approximately 3 million people worldwide.

Facts such as those were the motivation driving Lyondell’s 105-member cycle team, which made the 180-mile ride from Houston to Austin in late April, raising awareness and more than $125,000 to fund MS research. Lyondell continues to be among the top 25 fundraising companies for the annual event.

The MS150, sponsored by the Lone Star chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, is the largest cycle ride in the country – the ride attracts more than 13,000 cyclists who raise millions to assist the group in providing MS information and referrals, equipment loans, education programs, caring and wellness programs, emergency financial assistance, self-help groups, research updates, and clinical and peer support programs in 141 Texas counties.
