Ethics and Compliance

Lyondell’s Ethics and Compliance Program

At Lyondell, ethics are elemental to our success.

We are proud of our reputation, and we work hard to protect it.  We are committed to doing business in an ethical and environmentally responsible manner, complying with the law and maintaining a safe work environment.

At every level of the organization, employees are expected to act with honesty and integrity. They are expected to conduct business with transparency and accountability, while maintaining a focus on sound management systems and internal controls. These expectations are outlined in Lyondell’s core values and are clearly defined in our Business Ethics and Conduct Policy.

While executive officers are responsible for ensuring every aspect of our business is conducted in the most ethical way possible within their respective areas, a formal and comprehensive ethics and compliance program also exists. The program is managed by full-time employees who, working closely with a cross-functional committee of senior leaders, provide oversight and help develop, maintain and monitor management systems designed to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Business Ethics and Conduct Policy
The cornerstone of our ethics and compliance program is our Business Ethics and Conduct Policy.  This umbrella policy guides our business conduct and sets expectations for our employees, contractors, vendors, suppliers and joint-venture partners.  All employees receive mandatory training, available in multiple languages, on this policy.

We have programs in place to ensure that training occurs on other ethics related policies that are more relevant to specific job functions.  Training is conducted through many methods on a wide variety of ethical issues.

Raising Concerns
We believe that the foundation of a successful ethics and compliance program is open, honest and responsible communication.  We value a culture where everyone is comfortable reporting a potential violations or asking questions when they are not sure how to proceed.
Any of the following communication methods may be used for raising concerns:
• Dialog with your supervisor or another manager
• Speak with someone in Human Resources or the Legal department
• Send an e-mail to: ethics.policy@lyondellbasell.com
• Call the compliance hotline
Our commitment to our values includes a responsibility to foster an environment that allows people to report violations without the fear of retaliation or retribution.

Lyondell is firmly committed to pursuing our business objectives in an ethical manner and in full compliance with the law.  We believe a strong ethics and compliance program is in the best interest of all stakeholders.

We will continually build on our existing program’s strong foundation, not just because it is required by law, but because it makes good business sense for the future of our company and all stakeholders.
