Imparting advice on achieving aspirations, a manager once told Jeffrey early in his career, “Act like you already have the job.”

Location:  Houston, Texas
Year joined Lyondell: 1994
Education: B.S. Chemical Engineering, University of Pittsburgh, 1991
After hours: Football, reading, weightlifting and competitive public speaking
TV pick: The Apprentice
On his cone: Chocolate

That bit of advice asserted Jeffrey to fine tune his leadership qualities and propelled him to key positions throughout the organization. He began his career in 1994 with what is now our Morris, Illinois plant.

He’s held a number of positions with increasing responsibility, including senior production engineer, assistant operations superintendent, Health, Safety, and Environmental manager and technical superintendent, before moving to Lyondell’s Equistar plant in Clinton, Iowa.

I believe that the organization truly believes that people are our most important asset. Significant time is invested in employees here to help each develop to his or her full potential.

There, he worked as olefins technical superintendent and site process control superintendent. After several years as olefins operations superintendent, he moved to Houston in his current position as Materials and Services Procurement Manager.

“At Lyondell, I have had the opportunity to experience a variety of roles and organizations, which I truly believe has enabled me to develop significantly, both professionally and personally.”

His career path through Lyondell has been a rewarding journey, Jeffrey said, on which he’s had experiences that now allow him to give a bit of advice he shares with others just starting the climb.

“Take on new and challenging assignments early in your career, even if they are outside of your area of expertise and comfort zone,” Jeffrey said. “Follow your instincts and welcome opportunities to champion change.”
