After a decade with Lyondell, Wilma will tell you every day is still as fresh as the last. She thrives on “not knowing what I’m going to be doing on any one day.”

As Chief European Counsel, any given day finds Wilma working in various capacities to provide legal support in Europe, the Middle East and Africa to all of Lyondell’s chemical and fuel businesses and operations.

Excelling no matter what the project involves means being open to doing things you may not have done before, as well as sharing information and communicating well, she said.

During the last Global Care Day*, I participated in refurbishing a dining room at a Rotterdam community center – the result was great.

“One can’t be afraid to take risks or make mistakes, as these are unavoidable in achieving results,” she adds. “You have to be open to change and strive to do every task well.”

Lyondell seems a good fit for Wilma, who describes the organization’s culture as one where “people with diverse backgrounds and approaches are respected and valued.”
