“If I don’t do high quality work, it could affect more than just me – it could affect my co-workers, the company or our customers,” she said. “I oversee the quality of our products at the plant, some of which end up in life-saving pharmaceuticals. I am privileged to work with amazing people and together, we are making a difference – both within the company and outside.”
Carrie works as a site quality engineer, supervising the lab technicians and assisting with customer relations. And right from the beginning, she said, she has filled roles with a “great deal” of responsibility.
Everyone I have worked with has been great. They are willing to go above and beyond to help you succeed. I have made some great friends through working with Lyondell.
“Having that responsibility enables me to make improvements and have impact,” she said. “I have been involved with making improvements both within a manufacturing site, as well as in the surrounding community.”
While she’s enjoyed the professional challenges and opportunities at Lyondell, Carrie also stays busy with Lyondell-sponsored community activities. She mentored local elementary school students through her plant’s Study Connections program, participated in the quarterly blood drives, walked on an employee team in the American Cancer Relay for Life event, and served as her plant’s Global Care Day chairperson and as the United Way employee campaign chairperson at her work site.
Carrie said she counts each of her opportunities as a valuable part of her professional experience at Lyondell.
“I have great opportunities to experience new things and be challenged here,” she said. “[People in] the organization are willing to go out of their way to help me figure out where I want my career to go and to give me the opportunities to help me get there.”
