Joanne started at Lyondell’s Bayport Choate Plant as an engineering co-op. After graduation, her journey within Lyondell took off, with her landing in key positions in Process Engineering; Health, Safety and Environmental; Operations; Planning and Evaluations; Project Services; and, currently, Business Performance Analysis and Reporting (BPAR).
As a BPAR lead business consultant, Joanne analyzes and forecasts earnings for Lyondell’s refinery. Or as she puts it, “I figure out how much money we’re going to make this month, this quarter or this year...and why.” And who doesn’t want to know that tidbit of information?

“I truly believe Lyondell is sincere with respect to employee development,” said Joanne. “So I say to anyone new: take advantage of the opportunities around you…and then go make some of your own.”
Taking advantage of the opportunities change presents is only part of the equation for success, Joanne admits. Working in an environment where the organization’s people have a vested interested in everyone’s success is key.
“There is no doubt that I have encountered individuals within the organization who have made a personal investment in my success,” she said. “I have built relationships with a number of people at Lyondell whom I now consider life-long friends.”
